Upcoming Garmin Nuvi 1690 Supports GSM, GPRS, EDGE [GPS]
FCC tests have revealed that an upcoming Garmin GPS device, the , will feature GSM/GPRS/EDGE support. Presumably, this connectivity would be for updates like real-time traffic.
The problem, of course, is that monthly fees will most likely be part of the deal—monthly fees that many GPS users are probably not willing to pay. Still, the nuvi 1690 appears to be on its way, for better or worse—although pricing and a release date have yet to be announced. []
